Besides Press Launch Exhibition and Talks

Besides Press is a photobook publishing company which celebrates projects created with an impulsive curiosity. Besides Press launched alongside an exhibition at Liberty House in Bristol, on 1st October 2021, followed by a launch at Photobook Cafe in London. The exhibition displayed a project by each of the 3 photographers who’s books we published. I curated, printed and hung the exhibition in collaboration with the Besides Press team.

Mother Arts ‘Perspectives on Home’ Exhibition

In collaboration with Lucy at Mother Arts, we curated together 4 projects, each of which provided an international perspective on the subject of ‘home’, for an exhibition at Centre Space Gallery, Bristol.

“Sharing varied perspectives on what home means in the context of grief, immigration, and politics, each photographer unearths and considers their individual history. The works are sometimes touching, sometimes enlightening, and sometimes playful.”

Besides Press Gesture Workshop, Pop-up Exhibition

Besides Press delivered a week-long workshop to the first-year photography students at Boomsatusuma, Bristol. The workshops theme was ‘gesture’, and it culminated in a zine and a pop-ip exhibitinon which launched at the end of the week. In collaboration with the students, we playfully curated the space, printed the work on a laser printer, and hung the show all in a single day.

HCA Foundation Art Course, End of Year Show

For HCA’s foundation course end of year show, we came up with the concept of creating a ‘solo show’ for any student that wanted it, by projecting at large scale in one darkened room, and then projection mapping onto shapes and screens in another. The students were then able to curate the spaces individually to suit their work, and their display would show up for a minute, on rotation. I had to work out if this could be done, and then to carry out the project. Below are a few images from the different spaces.
